MONELCA was created with the aim of satisfying the needs of the Salvadoran market in the specific area of ​​electromechanical installations by offering design, supply, manufacture, transportation and installation of steel structures and special equipments. 

Good practices and compliance with customer requirements have made success and recognition possible in Central America, South America and the Caribbean. 

For almost 50 years the company has had major events, which are mentioned below in chronological order.

1964

CELSA (CENTRO AMERICANA DE ELECTRIFICACION) company dedicated to the construction of electrical works was founded in 1964 by Roberto Vieytez Cañas, a Salvadoran businessman.

During CELSA's 24 years of operation, were executed projects on Guatemala and Panama such us: Several electrical substation assemblies, Power transmission, sub-transmission and distribution of power lines.

1989

From 1989 CELSA was transformed into “MONTAJES ELECTROMECANICOS DE CENTROAMERICA” also known as MONELCA SA de CV

1992

With the expansion in the national market, the central office building was built in Antiguo Cuscatlán.

1994

Our industrial plant was built in San Juan Opico, El Salvador, the main objective was and is to serve the national market in the supply and manufacture of tanks and steel structures.

Also this year, important contracts were obtained for the construction of hydraulic, sanitation and building works, starting the operation as general contractors, executing civil, electrical and mechanical works in largest construction projects.

1996

UL 58 certification is achieved, a certificate that covers the manufacture of single-walled horizontal metal tanks, to be used underground and to store flammable liquid fuels at atmospheric pressure. From this moment on, we started to export tanks to Central America.

1998

A contract is signed as a licensee with Orange States Industries, an American company specialized in the design and manufacture of canopies, with coverage in the Central American and Caribbean area. From this moment on, we started the supply and installation of canopies for the main oil companies in the Central American region.

A consortium is established with Caterpillar for the supply of engineering related to civil works, construction of civil works and assembly of electromechanical works for generation projects, initiating the development of generation projects in the Central American area.

1999

UL 1746 certification is obtained, which covers the manufacture of Glasteel II double wall tanks which are atmospheric steel tanks intended for underground storage of flammable and combustible liquids with a jacketed secondary containment and nonmetallic external jacket constructed of fiberglass and polyester resin.

2005

Monelca is a company certified in ISO 9001: 2000, in the processes of General Contractor, Equipment Rental and Steel Transformation Plant.

2009

Monelca updates its ISO certificate to 9001: 2008, always in the processes of General Contractor, Equipment Rental and Steel Transformation Plant.

2010

Expansion of the Industrial Plant infrastructure in San Juan Opico, El Salvador with the aim of preparing for new projects in the Central American area, the Caribbean and North South America.

2011

ASME certification is obtained for the manufacture of pressure vessels.

 

2013

OHSAS 18001: 2007 certification is obtained for the processes of General Contractor and Steel Transformation Plant.

2018

We obtain certification ISO 9001 version 2015.

2020

We did migration from OHSAS 18001 to ISO 45001:2018. Occupational Health and Safety Management.
