TRANSFORMANDO LA INDUSTRIA DE LA CONSTRUCCIÓN CON LA METODOLOGÍA BIM Y TEKLA STRUCTURES

One of the key factors that has allowed us to stand out in the metalworking market is our adoption of the BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology and its implementation through Tekla Structures software. In this blog, we will explore the benefits of using this methodology in our metal structure design and manufacturing processes at our Monelca Industrial Plant and how it has allowed us to position ourselves as leaders in the industry.

What is the BIM methodology and how is it related to metallic structures?

The BIM methodology is a collaborative approach that integrates data and technology to create and manage detailed information for a construction project. In the context of metallic structures, BIM allows buildings, bridges, industrial buildings, walkways and other types of structures to be modeled accurately and efficiently, improving communication and coordination between the different actors involved in the process.

The benefits of using the BIM methodology in the construction of metal structures:

  • Greater precision and quality in design: 3D modeling of metal structures allows potential interferences and conflicts to be identified before construction, which reduces errors and rework at later stages.
  • Increased efficiency and productivity: BIM optimizes the planning and sequencing of construction processes, resulting in greater efficiency and productivity on the jobsite. In addition, it facilitates the early identification of potential problems, which allows corrective measures to be taken in a timely manner.
  • Improved communication and coordination: BIM encourages collaboration between the different teams involved in the project, such as architects, structural engineers, steel fabricators, and contractors. This improves communication, avoids misunderstandings, and ensures smoother coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Reduction of costs and terms: By optimizing the design, preventing errors and speeding up the construction, BIM contributes to reducing the costs and execution times of metal structure projects. This provides a competitive advantage in the marketplace and enables projects to be delivered more efficiently.

Tekla Structures: The leading software for metal structure modeling

At the Monelca Group, we rely on the Tekla Structures software to implement the BIM methodology in our metal structure projects. Tekla Structures is a powerful and versatile tool that allows us to create accurate 3D models, generate detailed documentation, and collaborate efficiently with all the stakeholders involved in the project. Its ability to view in real time, detect interferences and automatically generate bills of materials gives us a competitive advantage in the market.

The BIM methodology implemented through the Tekla Structures software has transformed the way we design and build metal structures at the Monelca Group. The benefits achieved, such as increased accuracy, improved efficiency, effective communication and reduced costs, have positioned us as a leading and cutting-edge company in the construction industry. We will continue to take advantage of these innovative technologies to continue to deliver quality results and exceed our clients' expectations on every project.
